Maggie served Hamilton Conference as President in 2007/08. The focused of her term centered around the work of right relations: "Toward Right Relations...a journey of the heart." Maggie co-chaired the Right Relations Task Group. The Task Group envisions a 5 year journey during which representatives from across the church, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal can engage with each other in ways that will promote and support the building of networks that focus on relationship-building as the foundation for healing and reconciliation. This work complements the process and timeline of the national Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Maggie also chaired of the Board at the Francis Centre Theological Centre. Maggie is from the Cree Nation, and spent her formative years in her home community of Peepeekisis First nation. Maggie lives with her husband Lawrence in Port Elgin, ON. They enjoy time spent with their two grandchildren. As theme speaker for the Montreal / Ottawa Annual meeting Maggie will invite participants to consider how it is the might engage in authentic relationship with God, with one another, and with the world. She will offer indigenous perspective to how Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Canadians might engage in the work of building right relations. |
Maggie a été présidente du Synode Hamilton (2007-2008). Le thème de son mandat se résume ainsi : construire des relations justes (Toward Right Relations...a journey of the heart), que nous pourrions traduire ainsi : Vers des relations justes...un pèlerinage du coeur.
Maggie a co-présidé le groupe de travail pour la construction des relations justes (The Right Relations Task Group). Le groupe de travail a imaginé un processus de cinq ans au cours desquels des représentants-es de toute l'Église, autochtones et non-autochtones, pourraient s'engager ensemble de manière à promouvoir et à soutenir la construction de réseaux dédiés à la guérison et à la réconciliation par la création de véritables liens. Cet exercice vient compléter le travail et le calendrier de la Commission nationale de Vérité et Réconciliation. De plus, Maggie a été présidente du conseil d'administration du Francis Sandy Theological Centre. Maggie appartient à la nation Crie. Elle a passé ses années de formation dans son village natal : la Première nation Peepeekisis. Maggie habite avec son mari Lawrence à Port Elgin, Ontario, où ensemble, ils aiment passer du temps avec leurs deux petits-enfants. En tant que présentatrice du thème de l’assemblée annuelle du Synode Montréal et Ottawa, Maggie invitera les participants-es à envisager de quelle façon ils et elles peuvent s'engager dans une relation authentique avec Dieu, avec les autres et avec le monde. D’une perspective amérindienne, elle parlera de la manière dont les Canadiens-nes, autochtones et non-autochtones, peuvent travailler ensemble à créer des relations justes. |
